@JonDavatz,

The Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU only has 32MB of dedicated memory. Please keep in mind that there are two types of memory in use for Graphics applications:

  • Dedicated Memory: This is physically located on the card, and is where graphic processing commands are carried out
  • Shared Memory: This is memory taken from the available System RAM (Usually 2GB/4GB/6GB/8GB/12GB/16GB/20GB/24GB total). Shared memory is used by a GPU for very slow operations like rendering an image on your monitor, or playing a video. Shared memory (RAM) is extremely slow compared to GPU memory - plus it has to contend with the rest of your operating system for use

We are hoping to clear this confusion up with more Knowledge Base articles, and possibly some homegrown explanation videos. Many of our customers have trouble understanding the connection between hardware and their software, which is frustrating, especially if other software from us works just fine.

If you find this thread, and you purchased before you noticed that your GPU did not have sufficient Dedicated Memory, you will need to either:

  1. Install a GPU with dedicated memory sufficient to run Texture Effects
  2. If you cannot install a GPU, then you will need to use a different computer that meets the requirements
  3. Request a Refund: Submit a Ticket

Thanks all!

-Joe
